Making Dreams Come True
Jana was born in Dallas, Texas, and grew up in the suburbs of Houston, Texas. She was a state-ranked tennis player in her early teens and was crowned Ms. Teen Texas in 1981. After she graduated from Klein Forest High School she attended Stephen F. Austin State University where she studied Business and Marketing. For twenty-eight years Jana was the owner of a fast-paced final-clean company in the construction industry. Jana and Brian share five children.
Brian was born in Maryland but swore his allegiance to the State of Texas in 2004. Brian is a United States Army Veteran, a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, an American Farmer and has been a Keeper of the Peace for over thirty years.
In 1991, Jana located the 27-acre farm in New Waverly, Texas, and promptly brought her grandfather to the property for approval. Upon arrival, the gate was found to be locked and without hesitation she and her 80-year-old grandfather scaled the gate gaining entrance. The original home was built in 1887 and was moved from Willis, Texas. In 2011 Jana made vast improvements which now presents a 4000 square foot East Texas schoolhouse style home. The home is surrounded by hay fields and a two-acre stocked pond. The eastern section of the property is host to The Good Stuff flower farm.
After a few years of producing strawberries, the couple experimented with a small area to grow flowers. A pleasant surprise displayed a multitude of beautiful colors and the flower farm was born! Jana and Brian worked relentlessly planning the future of the flower farm. After many hours and weeks of lessons learned and successes, they are now growing 25 types of Zinnias, Amaranths, Dahlias, Cosmos, fresh herbs, and over 15 different colors of Sunflowers. Every year the couple adds to the variety of flower choices. The farm is quickly attracting families from the surrounding areas as far as Houston. The farm provides a family atmosphere featuring surround sound music and fresh air in a Norman Rockwell setting. The guests are able to cut their own flowers or request that bouquets be cut for them. Customers routinely call in and have “bouquets to go”, where the flowers are brought to their vehicles at the front gate entrance.
Jana and Brian married in 2015 on the porch of their historic home in a massive rainstorm with family and close friends.
Jana, a former business owner in the commercial construction industry, recently retired to cultivate their young flower farm business and renovate their home and property for small weddings and social gatherings. From the onset, the couple has been inspired to open their home and farm to guests.
